JOYRIDE
Lucinda Chua x ESEA Sisters

Joyride was a commissioned collaboration with musician Lucinda Chua, who invited ESEA Sisters (Sue Man, Kim Chin and Michelle Moroney) to curate and produce a joyful night of revelry celebrating the ESEA community. 

The programme featured a dazzling cast of artists and performers: Becky Tun Pe, Chantel Foo, Duane Nasis, Princess XiXi, Coco Von Crack, Lulu Wang, Rowan Allen, Sunshine Negyesi + Krysten Resnick, The Mollusc Dimension and DJ Rowan Allen. It showcased a variety of artforms – performance art, martial art, dance, comedy, jazz and spoken word – to explore collective joy and ancestral wisdom. 

Thanks to Lucinda Chua, Tiger Hagino Reid and Toby Donelly from ATC Management, along with videographer Jessica Au, photographer Joyce Mak, sculptor Sophie Mei, MC Saorsa, Swilipino for keeping the crew well fed, and the wonderful backstage crew – Olivia Lam, Rose Wei, Alexander Solo, Sarah Danby and the entire Southbank Centre production team.

ESEA Sisters builds community spaces for East & Southeast Asian women, trans, non-binary and genderqueer folk. Sue Man was a Founding Member and the Community Event Lead Organiser with ESEA Sisters (2021-2024).
